Meet Dr. Haile Michaelson Kelowna Naturopath

Making Sense of Complex Health

Clinical protocols and laboratory diagnostics are essential, but they are only part of the story. True resolution occurs when we bridge evidence-based medicine with the deep emotional patterns, stress responses, and subconscious architecture that govern how the body heals.

Where medicine meets psychology.

Where biology meets meaning.

Where neuroscience meets the subconscious.

Where careful observation meets intuition.

Where what can be measured meets what can only be deeply experienced.

For most of my life, I have been trying to understand how these worlds fit together.

That question has shaped every degree I have done, every patient I have cared for, every book I have opened, and every direction my work has taken.

Today, it continues to shape the way I listen.

The Lifelong Search

The question that became my life’s work

Long before I became a doctor, I was fascinated by healing. I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at McGill University because I wanted to understand the human mind. More than twenty five years ago, I trained in hypnotherapy and became captivated by the subconscious, by the hidden patterns that quietly shape our emotions, behaviours, relationships, and health.

I also wanted to understand the body and deeper root level healing.

Why physiology changes. Why hormones shift. Why inflammation develops. Why some people recover while others continue to struggle.

That search led me into naturopathic medicine, where I immersed myself in physiology, biochemistry, nutrition, botanical medicine, acupuncture, endocrinology, laboratory medicine, and clinical care.

Psychology and medicine answer a lot of question, but there were components missing. Research on radical remissions and healing beyond all odds showed the most successful stories have spiritual components, core belief components, and holistic care needs to include all of these levels.

So I kept studying. I dove into the unseen worlds to bring to understand how to create a bridge.

I learned about intuition, life between lives, soul journeys, energy modalities and intensive meditation.

Intuition

Each discipline illuminated something essential.

None of them on their own can fully explain the complexity of healing.

Because people are never just biology, and one medication for one system in isolation is never how our system works.

We are shaped by interacting systems, and our relationships, identity, memories, emotions, nervous system, lived experiences, and the remarkable ways we adapt in order to survive are all part of it.

Healing lives where these worlds meet. The best protocols have space for each component.

My Personal Experience

When theory was no longer enough

There came a point when reading about consciousness and transformation no longer felt sufficient.

I wanted to experience these questions from within.

Twice, I stepped away from ordinary life to spend thirty days in intensive contemplative practice and meditation.

Those experiences changed the way I listen.

They taught me that some of the deepest healing cannot be rushed or figured out. It needs to be allowed to emerge. It is directly reliant on space being made and courage to face our own beautiful depths. It also sometimes needs guidance, mentoring and a safe container.

Science & Intuition

Intuition and science are not opposites

People sometimes assume that intuition and science belong on opposite sides of a divide.

My experience has been very different.

Medicine teaches us to observe carefully. Psychology teaches us to listen deeply. Intuition simply invites us to notice what has not yet been spoken.

For me, intuition is never a replacement for evidence or clinical reasoning.

It is another way of paying attention.

Education & Expertise

A lifetime of learning

Today, my work brings together more than sixteen years of clinical practice with a lifelong passion for understanding healing from every angle.

My formal education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from McGill University, a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree, and I am currently completing a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology with a special focus in eating disorder recovery, trauma and embodiment, identity exploration, sexual health, LGBTQIA+ care.

Alongside those degrees, I have continued studying neuroscience, hypnotherapy, subconscious processes, trauma, contemplative practice, somatic approaches, depth psychology, behaviour change, subconscious studies and mind body medicine.

Not because of credentials.

Because I have never stopped asking the same question.

Beyond the Clinic

The kind of practitioner I have become

I am naturally quiet, deeply curious, intuitive, and very introverted.

I notice subtleties. I enjoy complexity. I am comfortable sitting with uncertainty and asking questions that uncover what has been overlooked.

Outside the clinic, you will usually find me with my two kids and partner, walking in the forests, training in CrossFit, spending time near the water, or learning something new about the endlessly fascinating process of healing.

Core Belief

What I know to be true

After decades of study, thousands of patient conversations, and my own experiences of healing, one truth continues to stand out to me.

People are far more than their symptoms.

Healing is not a perfectionistic or mechanical system about fixing a problem.

It is about understanding the relationship between the body, the nervous system, the subconscious, our experiences, our relationships, our identity, and the deeper wisdom that continues to move us toward wholeness.

My work is to help bring those pieces into your healing journey.

To recognize patterns and create a cohesive order from the complexity.

To bring clarity where there has been confusion.

To offer both science and intuition.

Most of all, to create a safe container where you feel deeply supported, understood and seen.

I can say with confidence after many years of this work, that this is where healing begins.

Listening to the Whole

Finding your way forward

The body speaks.

The mind creates meaning.

The nervous system remembers.

The subconscious protects, reveals, and quietly guides.

Each offers a different way of understanding the same person.

Healing begins when we learn to listen to them all.
